GOLSHAKER

In collaboration with Orchidee Brasz I created Golshaker, an iPhone app that allowed you to support your national team during the 2014 World Championship Brazil by shaking your phone. Like almost every good concept, it’s simple: by shaking your iPhone, you activate the Brazilian commentator shouting goooooool. He won’t stop as long as you continue shaking, through which you collect points for your ‘Golshaker country ranking’ at the same time.

Golshaker could easily be personalized with your own photo, and tuned with a crazy classic football wig, through an in-app purchase. It offered look-a-like hairdos such as the ones of Becks, der Afro, El Salvador, or El Diez. The share button allowed users to let their ‘new look’ go viral on social media.

RESULTS

Golshaker was very successful. The app was downloaded 3.000 times (without any media budget). It appeared in many 'must have World Cup app' lists, like on NU.nl and De Volkskrant and it won the Mobile of the Day Award. We had a great time developing the app and also a great time during the World Cup, although the Netherlands didn't make it to the finals :(.
